Tourist Visa is granted to a Foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sight-seeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives, and attending a short term yoga programme. No other activity/purpose is permissible on a Tourist Visa.
Validity: 6 Months
Documents Required:
a) Two recent colour photographs (size: 2 x 2 inches) showing full frontal view of face against a white background to be pasted on the application form. Photographs should not be stapled.
b) Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the contemplated stay in India with photocopy;
c) Copy of the reservation itinerary (not confirmed ticket) needs to be attached with the Visa Application at the time of submission of the application. (Note: non-refundable tickets or reservations should not be purchased until your passport with visa is in your possession);
d) Proof of financial standing (recent bank statement, sponsorship letter, etc.);
e) Accommodation arrangements / hotel bookings.

The provision relating to the 2 months gap between two visits of a foreign national to India on a Tourist Visa has been reviewed by the Government. It has been decided to lift the restriction of two-month gap on re-entry of foreign nationals coming to India except in case of nationals of Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, Bangladesh, foreigners of Pakistan origins and Stateless persons and in such a case, permission should be sought from the Head of Indian Mission in the region and registration would be required within 14 days of arrival in India with the FRRO.
